"Impressions of Nature" : JOSEPH BREZA & WILLIAM SCHAAF

OPENING Reception Friday, July 7th 5:00 - 7:30pm

Featuring two artists of consummate mastery, Joseph Breza and William Schaaf each have renowned careers spanning over 40 years of dedication to both technique and artist's vision.

Joseph Breza is continually identified as a master colorist by peers and critics.  With his signature lush brushwork and nuanced light of nature, Breza conveys the unique palette of a moment and a season, reflecting to the viewer a feeling of connection and emotional resonance.

William Schaaf's equine sculptures are meditations on form and archetypal themes. Schaaf says, “...my sculpture is influenced by a Japanese aesthetic, by accidental happenings of nature, a French-school notion of surface and beauty; while serving to honor various ancient traditions, through imitation and variation. The pieces are about primal, elemental energies associated with the horse since recorded time.”

"Liberty" : featuring REGINA FOSTER & PAIGE BRADLEY

OPENING RECEPTION and Meet-the-Artist: Friday August 11th, 5 - 7:30pm

Santa Fe artist Regina Foster's new body of paintings reflects a stunning tour-de-force delving into the idea of personal "Veritas", Truth.  The choice to live in "veritas", with liberty, and in personal integrity, — as a country, an individual, or a global family. Foster paints through pattern, symbolism, and layered atmosphere evoking metaphor and message from an intuitive place.  "The world lately feels very black and white," says Foster, "and these works have come from call to the soul within us all that inspires the courage and beauty of living in integrity."

Internationally acclaimed sculptor, Paige Bradley, asks the question "Who are we if we're un-contained?" Bradley's figurative bronzes powerfully draw upon the qualities of our being-ness and connection to each other.  From her Metamorphosis series combining bronze with electricity, to her series of dancers, Bradley's work evokes the strength, grace and beauty of a human life. Bradley says, "As much as I try to avoid labeling myself, I am a figurative artist in everything I do. The figure to me is the perfect vehicle to communicate the human condition."

"Pas de Deux": Margret Carde & Richard Weinstein

Sublime horizons and urban energy.  Margret Carde and Richard Weinstein paint the two most dominating factors that make up our experience.  We are constantly sighting a horizon or rubbing shoulders with each other, —the dynamic friction of sharing space, versus the expansive call to roam, these are the contrasting and complementing essences of the paintings of real-time partners and accomplished artists Richard Weinstein and Margret Carde.

"Fragile Environments" : CAROL HARTSOCK

Hartsock often uses a striking horizontal line in the works in this collection to serve as a resting point or divider line, which separates chaotic, stimulating areas from relaxed portions of the artwork.  "The idea is to try to get people to look at the images and see how there is this food that is given to us through Mother Nature, and then how we have used it and what we need to do to maintain it,” says Hartsock.

While Hartsock’s 30-year artistic career has mainly been focused on portraiture, she began exploring abstract concepts, craving the ability to loosen up with her artwork. She started experimenting with using alkyd oil paint, and says the layering process of the medium is not only conducive to landscape works, but it allows her to apply color in a way that conveys intense emotion and gives works a glass-like look.

Reception September 16th 5-7:30pm.  See more works here: http://www.canyonfineart.com/carol-hartsock-abstract/

FORM AND FIGURE : SCULPTURE BY PAIGE BRADLEY & MARK YALE HARRIS

YOU'RE INVITED! ARTIST RECEPTION : August 12th, 2016 5-7:30pm.  Meet the artists. With live broadcast on FM 98.1 RadioFree Santa Fe.

Presenting the WORLD PREMIER EXCLUSIVE "Expansion" Life-size, Bronze with electricity, by Paige Bradley.  Approx. 55x50x30 inches.  Pre-sales now available.

"Expansion" Halflife, earned the artist a place as #1 in "Top 25 Most Creative Sculptures of the World" in 2014.   http://themindunleashed.org/2014/08/25-creative-sculptures-statues-around-world.html

Expansion Lifesize has been a dream of mine since 2004, when I placed the original, smaller version in a Brooklyn park. As ‘Expansion’ was lit up, photographers literally began running to it and feverishly taking photos as the sunlight turned to dusk. Since that day there has been an amazing amount interest in ‘Expansion’ being placed somewhere permanent for all to see. ‘Expansion’ was ranked ‘#1 most creative public sculptures in the world’, but unfortunately has never had a permanent public installation. Now that CANYON Fine Art has helped me create a life-size version of her, I feel like my dream of having this sculpture placed somewhere exciting is closing in. The size of this new version of ‘Expansion’ could be either a public sculpture in a garden, or a triumphant piece in a private home. I am so grateful for the people who love this piece and have helped make her more meaningful and iconic.
